Budget-friendly champion Wyze is moving more upmarket, announcing the arrival of the Wyze Ultra BodyScan smart scale.

This new flagship model, priced at $120, marks a significant leap from its sub-$40 scales, incorporating a retractable handle with 8 electrodes for segmented body analysis.

The brand says the new design allows the scale to measure body composition in your arms, legs, and torso individually, providing a much more detailed and accurate breakdown of fat and muscle distribution.

It’s a feature previously reserved for high-end devices like the Withings Body Scan, which costs over four times as much.

The Ultra BodyScan tracks 13 core body composition metrics, including body fat, BMI, muscle mass, and water weight, and displays them on a 4.3-inch color screen.

While it includes heart rate monitoring during weigh-ins, Wyze has strategically omitted more advanced medical features like ECG readings or Vascular Age tracking, which remain a key differentiator for Withings.

A partner for your wearables

However, the Ultra BodyScan’s main strength for wearable users is its wide-ranging app integration.

The scale syncs with the Wyze app over both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and, more importantly, seamlessly shares its data with Apple Health, Google Fit, and Android Health Connect. This makes it a compelling option for users across the entire digital health ecosystem.

For example, this new scale could be a great solution for Fitbit users, as Fitbit’s own Aria Air scale does not currently work with the new, revamped Fitbit app experience, leaving a major gap in the market. The Wyze scale not only fills that gap but also offers advanced body composition features that even Fitbit’s own hardware lacks.

With support for eight users, pet and luggage modes, and 8-9 month battery life from four AAA batteries, the Ultra BodyScan is an aggressively priced contender.

It’s a clear sign that Wyze is no longer content with just the budget market and is ready to challenge the health tech heavyweights on features and, crucially, on connectivity.
