wyzelockbolt2

Wyze is discreetly enhancing one of its most popular budget-friendly devices with the introduction of the Wyze Lock Bolt v2.

This updated version of their entry-level smart lock now comes equipped with built-in Wi-Fi. The best part? It retains the same $79.98 price tag as the original model.

The initial Lock Bolt was a solid “smart-ish” choice, but it depended entirely on Bluetooth. This meant no remote locking, real-time alerts, or proper integration with voice assistants. The v2 addresses these limitations. With Wi-Fi, you can now lock or unlock the door from anywhere, review activity logs on the go, and control it with Alexa or Google Assistant, features typically found in more expensive models.

Wyze has maintained the core design, which is a positive. The fingerprint sensor remains one of the fastest in its category, unlocking the door in about half a second. Biometric data is stored locally, adding a layer of privacy. The keypad has been upgraded to a sleek, smudge-resistant, tempered-glass touchpad with illuminated numbers for better visibility at night.

The lock supports up to 50 access codes and temporary passcodes for visitors that expire automatically. For added security, Wyze allows you to add extra random digits before or after your code to prevent shoulder-surfing.

Battery life has slightly decreased, lasting around eight months instead of a full year. However, Wyze has included a USB-C emergency port for temporary power if the batteries die. There’s also a traditional key as a backup option.

A built-in tamper alarm enhances security, and if you have a Wyze video doorbell, you can unlock the door directly from the live view screen.

For under $80, the Lock Bolt v2 now offers features typically found in smart locks that cost twice as much. The addition of Wi-Fi not only improves the user experience but also makes it a highly attractive option for those seeking app control, remote access, and modern smart home integration without breaking the bank.
