IKEA is kicking off 2026 with a serious move into the connected home by unveiling 21 new smart home products, all built to work with Matter, the universal smart home standard designed to make devices from different brands work seamlessly together.
Launching in January, the Swedish giant IKEA is putting the spotlight on three main things: lighting, sensors, and controls. They call these the “building blocks” of a smart home that’s actually intuitive and flexible.
New models and old favourites
The lineup mixes brand-new gadgets with refreshed versions of older favourites, all rebuilt so they play nice with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and other Matter-compatible platforms. On that note, check out the best Matter smart home devices we have so far, as well as the ultimate Matter smart home guide for that seamless setup.

According to David Granath, who manages the Range Manager at IKEA of Sweden, they’re rebuilding their home system from the ground up, making smart home tech less complicated and expensive so everyone can easily jump into it.
Affordable
Leading the lineup is the KAJPLATS lighting range, with 11 new bulbs in all shapes, sizes, and brightness levels. You can get options for colour or white spectrum, and they’re cheap, starting at £4. There are five new sensors, too. They can detect motion, temperature, humidity, air quality, and even water leaks, with prices running between £5 and £25.
Toss in the BILRESA remotes and the GRILLPLATS smart plug from the collection, and you’ve got simple ways to control your gear or convert traditional lamps and appliances into smart ones.
All these Matter-ready devices work with IKEA’s DIRIGERA hub, which can also manage non-Matter devices and gadgets from other brands. IKEA says this launch marks just the first phase in a broader smart home expansion.
