Apple’s AI-powered paid health subscription service is reportedly still on track to launch in 2026.
That’s according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who notes that the ‘Health+’ service remains a major pillar of Apple’s future health strategy and is expected to roll out with a future update (likely iOS 27 and watchOS 27).
The project, reportedly codenamed ‘Quartz’ internally—and last rumored a couple of years ago—could also represent a significant development for the Apple Watch.
We’ve already seen Apple lean more into proactive guidance with Workout Buddy, Sleep Score, and Vitals over the last couple of watchOS updates, and a Health+ service could finally transform the vast amount of health data into personalized guidance.
According to the report, the Health+ service will function as an AI-powered digital coach. It will analyze a user’s data from their Apple Watch, iPhone, and other sources to provide tailored advice, suggest nutrition tweaks, and help users build and maintain daily wellness routines to hit their activity goals.
Early reports suggest the service will also include educational videos from doctors and fitness professionals, offering expert advice on specific conditions, recovery, and lifestyle changes.
A “major revamp” of nutrition tracking is also said to be a key component, making it easier for users to log food and understand their habits.
Apple’s subscription services at a crossroads
This new service, of course, is entirely separate from Apple Fitness+, the company’s on-demand workout service.
But, interestingly, this news comes at the same time Gurman also reports that Fitness+ is reportedly “under review” and being moved under new leadership due to high user churn.
As part of a Health+ rollout, it’s not inconceivable that Apple may even shift its workout-focused content to more personalized, AI-driven coaching that provides greater long-term value.
Ultimately, if Apple gets this new phase right, it could transform the entire tracking experience into one more in line with Oura and Whoop. However, only time will tell on that front.
